Following the Kennel Clubs acceptance of the breed standard in 2008 the Slovakian Rough Haired Pointer was added to the Import Register enabling our breed to be exhibited in Import classes at UK shows and qualification was acknowledged at Championship shows for entry at Crufts in 2013.

During this time annual Top Puppy, Top Slovak, Top Stud Dog and Top Breeder have been awarded on a Championship Show win points system undertaken by Our Dogs Newspaper.

A true mile stone was achieved when in 2016/17 Best Import winners were allowed to compete in the Gundog Group for the first time, instead of just a lap of honour.

The SRHP club does hope to put on official breed shows for our lovely Slovaks one day but unfortunately until the stud book is closed in Slovakia the UK Kennel Club will not grant approval for a license. So we remain on the Import Register for now.

However not to be disheartened there are many owners who would love the opportunity to show off their lovely breed and to compete at open or championship show level to their best advantage.

The club are able to assist with this by running dog show handling masterclasses, ring craft workshops, seminars and hopefully companion shows specifically designed for those aspiring to have a go.

For this we have enlisted the help of Rhiannon Chevalier our dog show Coordinator.  A successful and competent top winning exhibitor herself, handling professionally, not just for her mother but successfully for other Slovak owners and breeds too.

The club intends to introduce its own points system to collate points from Championship and Open show wins for a perpetual trophy in 2019.

We will keep you posted on events on this page; for further information, contact Rhiannon direct.
